2017

This is the year we got serious about travel. At the end of 2016, Halie signed a contract with an international school in Bangkok, Thailand. So the summer of 2017 would see us make that huge move.

But first, a few trips. Halie and I drove up to Providence, Rhode Island, early that year. In February, we flew to Bangkok for a quick, week-long trip, to see her school and decide what part of the city we wanted to live in. We squeezed one more Europe trip in, flying to Amsterdam to spend a week with friends who were living there. Also, one more family trip, this time to a resort in Mexico.

After leaving Philly, Halie and I head to the airport with four suitcases and two backpacks for our move to Bangkok.

Once in Bangkok, we spent our time exploring the city and other parts of Thailand: Ayutthaya, Hua Hin, Chiang Mai, Ratchaburi, Kanchanaburi, Pattaya, Rayong. Our first trip in Southeast Asia (outside Thailand) was to Vietnam: Hoi An, Da Nang, Hue, and Ho Chi Minh City. Read my article about the must-do activities in Ho Chi Minh City.

And on top of all this, one other trip to Penang, Malaysia, before heading back to the US for Christmas/New Year.
