2022
The beginning of the year brought us to two new countries. First, we hopped on a train to head to Zurich, Switzerland. So expensive! Then in February, we flew over to Portugal to meet my family. We started in Porto and worked our way down the country through Aveiro, Nazaré, Óbidos, Sintra, then a few days in Lisbon. A train then brought us down to Faro in the southern tip of Portugal.
We continued exploring more of Germany, one weekend flying to Hamburg and another in Cologne. We also spent a long weekend in Bucharest, Romania, and looked for Dracula in the villages around Brasov.
Halie's mom visited so we took her over to Luxembourg. A few months later, Halie's brother and future wife visited as well. We showed them around our area before they headed off to a few destinations. For a few days, we met them in Berlin, meeting back up with our friend Peppe.
We also went back to Belgium. First Brussels before checking out Bruges and Villers-la-Ville. Next, we took the very German trip to Mallorca, Spain. Later that same month brought us back to the UK, but this time seeing what Scotland had to offer. We spent time in Inverness, Glasgow, and Edinburgh, where we met up with friends from Bangkok (one who is Scottish) and had the chance to experience the Fringe Fest.
Another big German cultural experience in September: Oktoberfest! We took the train to Munich, drank lots of beer, then trained back home.
In October, we decided to explore the Normandy region of France. Mont Saint-Michel was a highlight but don't worry, we stopped back in Paris, meeting up with another friend from Bangkok (who is French).
My parents visited in November and somehow we ended up back in Paris! Good thing we like spending time there.
